Web 2.0 Applications

Dear All, Please check out my Glogster Poster! It's interactive, it's fun... click around and play.

Don't have time to play? Here's a recap on what it was like to create my Glogster Poster.  It was a lot of fun!  It took some time, trial, and error, but I figured it out.  I can imagine endless possibilities.  Glogster has all kinds of Glog ideas for inspiration.  It allows you to review other Glogs, revise them or share them.  This is a great learning tool. It was very easy to use.  The tutorials were great, short, and sweet.  I enjoyed playing with, creating, and imagining my own Glog!  I provided a preview below:

DELICIOUS!!!

I created a Social Bookmarking  Account with Delicious today. It was pretty easy to use.  I had to play around with it a little bit.  I found a lot of great links.  I just typed in the search what I was interested in, and Delicious found me all kinds of interesting links.  It was great.  I just checked out the links to see what I was interested in and then clicked on add link.  I clicked on My Links and there they all were, waiting for me. A lot of great resources that I can share with my class, I can't wait to use them!

I'm Sharing my social bookmarking link with you! Hope you enjoy!

Google Drive

Check Out My Google Doc

I created a Google Document on http://drive.google.com.  It was easy and very user friendly. Under My Drive, I was able to see another document and edit it.  It was already available from the Sample Web Application of Ms. Arensman's. When I opened it to view it for guidance, it automatically placed her Google Document next to the one I created.  I can't wait to share Google Documents with my fellow teachers.  We share ideas all the time anyways; this is going to make our lives so much easier.  We don't have to make a copy to bring to class and share with each other, and we don't have to email a copy when we get home at night.  We can create a document and share it instantly.  It's there, ready for all of us to use and share with each other.  This is so exciting!!!

I signed up for my RSS Reader Today!

Check it Out:  Feedly.com

http://feedly.com/i/my

I signed up for my RSS Reader today.  I signed up on Feedly.com.  It is a great resource.  It was very easy to login.  I signed in using my Facebook account.  It provided me with all kinds of RSS feeds.  I found all of my favorite websites and bloggers and added them to my personal learning network.  It was easy.  I entered what I was interested in through the search engine.  It pulled up a variety websites and blogs.  I just clicked on what I liked, and it brought up a page to the left.  I clicked add at the bottom and it saved my favorites to the left so that I could access them again.  It was nice having all of the RSS feeds together in one location.

It is great creating my own Personal Learning Network (PLN).  I think it's very important for teachers to have a PLN.  It provides an opportunity for connection and better understanding of the teaching community and most importantly our students. It provides an endless stream of social connections and links promoting an endless bound of learning and sharing on a global level.  I look forward to continuing the development of my Personal Learning Network.  Fun and Exciting!

I am soooo excited!!!

I created my own Wiki

Welcome to My Classroom!

               http://jamteg.wikispaces.com/-/ABC%20Phonics/1/

  • I made an announcement, I entered an event in my schedule, and posted information to my students and parents in my newsfeed at the bottom of the page.
  • I Created 1 Project -- with optional start and end dates -- for assignments and topic areas.
  • I added 3 pages, and viewed the assessment of student engagement in real time.
  • I clicked edit at the top right of the section to add my own welcome messages and information for each class assignment.

This is a really neat resource.  I set up 1 project with 3 different pages/assignments to create differentiated instruction.  I was able to send a note to the parents and students explaining to them what I would like their student to accomplish.  I was able to embed videos from youtube, links, etc., and then I posted a note at the bottom to open up discussion and allow students and parents to tell me whether they were able to understand the assignment, view the video okay, and what to look forward to the following day.  It provided the teacher, parent, and student the opportunity to interact with each other to learn in a collaborative effort.  Great!

There weren't a lot of instructions on how to get started. I had to fumble around quite a bit to finally understand the concept of the Wiki, but it was worth the effort.  It's very easy to implement once you have an understanding of the collaboration concept. Once I understood the collaboration part, the set-up of the Wiki made sense.  It kind of all fell in line.  Wow! The allowance of the interaction between the parents, students, and teacher is invaluable. No e-mailing, writing notes, just instant interaction and communication. This could provide a fortress of support for our students, our parents, and our teachers.  What a special capability.

Animoto-Fun

I created a simple digital story about my class using web2.0 tools!  It was so much fun!  My kids sang Holly Jolly Christmas this year for the Christmas Program, and we read Polar Express before the winter break.  We went over the intention behind the Red Bell and to Remember, If you believe...each receiving their own personal red bell that looked exactly like the graphic in the Animoto Video. (Couldn't be more perfect!)  They will be thrilled to see all of our experiences tied together in a digital story... Our digital story.  Animoto was super easy to use.  It provided beautiful graphics, and video styles.  What a wonderful way to share learning.  It can be so simple and sweet for my young students, and it can be so creative and attention grabbing for the older students. I really enjoyed learning this technique and look forward to creating so many more digital stories for my kids to experience and enjoy.

Go Animate

Please check out my GoAnimate Page where I created an Animation Video for my students to see Zebra helping Ellie to discover the first letter in Ellie's name. This was a Web 2.0 Tool that was new to me. I think my kids will love it.  Just click on Jam below and then click on the link.  It's a great website, very easy to use, and fun.  There are tons of great animation and pre-set themes to make your creations easy to start.  They have several voices to choose from, or you can record your own to add to your animation.  The possibilities are endless.  I think students would greatly enjoy teacher creations or making their own, using their imaginations to reflect and share in the classroom and with their peers.  This is a great Web 2.0 Resource. I really enjoyed creating this video.  I had to draw from my imagination. I enjoyed figuring out how to make the speech flow as smoothly as possible to the ear of the listener, the inflections, the voice tones, fitting the voices with the overall picture that I wanted to present. Did I want the elephant to have a deep voice, a male voice, a female voice? Did I want the Zebra to be male for female? Did I want him to talk fast or slow?  These were all little choices I had to make and alter.  I think this would be a great tool. Not only to show representation of learned material by students, but for them to take ownership in decision making processes for themselves and have a sense of accomplishment for their decisions.  Great Resource!  A lot of fun!
